ARE PUNISHMENTS NEEDED?

Punishments are given to make students obey. But they are also very dangerous as many students attempt or commit suicides because of the punishments given by their teachers. At present they cause so much pain and suffering to the students. Now a days teachers use fear to make children study. From the young age of four or five years (LKG or UKG) children are made to be afraid of punishments because when they do not complete homework they are told if you do the same next time you will be thrown into a dark room or you will be beaten. But is this necessary? Can’t they be taught with love and affection? When they grow they learn the same rule “FEAR MAKES PEOPLE WORK”.

When it comes to teenagers punishments take the form of humiliation. As teenagers are emotionally sensitive they take it to the extremes of suicide. Teachers defend this by quoting"SPARE THE ROD SPOIL THE CHILD" but does sparing the rod spoil them to the extent of committing suicide???????. Even laws have been passed to stop this brutal crime of punishing children of silly reasons  .There have also been incidents where students died because of punishments given to them by their teachers for silly reasons. For example I read about a boy named anonymous who was given the punishment of 350 sit-ups for coming 10 min late after the lunch break. He died after the 256th sit up!!!!!!!!!. In the light of this incident are these punishments that necessary?????????? Can’t they be replaced by love????????
